Breathe
Oxygen is fuel for your body, and breathing exercises can relieve
stress and clear small energy blockages. Breathe deeply and slowly,
through your nose if possible. Fill the bottom of your lungs first,
then the middle, then the top, taking 8 to 10 seconds to fill your
lungs completely. Hold your breath a couple seconds. Exhale quietly
and easily.
Chant or Sing
Chanting a personal affirmation will enable you to summon additional
energy. Even singing your favorite pop song can help. Spiritual and
religious chants hold more power, inducing a trance-like hypnosis.
This meditative state is like the shift in consciousness experienced
during a Reiki session.
Cook Your Own Food
Food is fuel, but you'll gain more energy from food you've cooked
yourself. Set aside time so you're cooking with care and enjoyment,
not feeling rushed. Use local, organic, unprocessed food whenever
possible. Eat until you're 80% full, or your body will shift too much
energy to digestion and you'll feel tired again.
Dance
Dance can rid you of stale energy and bring you fresh energy. Choose
music that is meaningful to you. Move your arms and legs to throw off
stale energy. To bring in fresh energy, simply sway gently to the
rhythm. Plant your feet on the floor and keep your arms at your sides
so you don't throw away the fresh energy.
Exercise
Moderate exercise clears stress and increases your energy. Moving
meditations like Tai Chi and yoga have perfected this practice, but
you'll feel the benefits from a brisk walk. Ask your medical
professional what level of exercise is best for you.
Garden or Visit Nature
When you tend to the health of your garden, you'll feel the benefits
yourself. Don't have a yard? Visit a park or forest preserve. Simply
soak in extra energy from the living plants and the sun. (Wear
sunblock!) Look for a stream, river or waterfall. According to feng
shui experts, running water improves relaxation and energy flow.
Sleep Well
Along with breathing and eating, sleeping is your body's natural
energy enhancer. Going to sleep and getting up at the same time each
day can improve your sleep quality. Sleep scientists also recommend
avoiding caffeine in the evening and not reading or watching TV in
bed.
Visit a Place of Worship
Temples, altars and shrines are usually surrounded by energy.
Brought in by chanting, singing and rituals, this energy is available
to all visitors, regardless of their religious beliefs. Walk to a
place of worship near your house. See if you can feel the energy
increase as you approach.
If you're having trouble boosting your energy or clearing blockages, try a Reiki session. Email Erik LaBelle, Reiki Master/Teacher, or call 312-504-7693 to schedule an evening or weekend appointment.
